Katrina Kaif Family
The pride of Bollywood, Katrina Kaif entered the world in the year 1984 on 16th July. She was born in Hong Kong. This British Indian Actress is the present reigning queen of Indian Film industry. For three consecutive years 2008, 2009 and 2010 she won the coveted title of being the sexiest Asian women of the world by Eastern Eye. She is working in India on an employment visa. In her leisure time, the actress loves to play chess, paint, watch movies, cook, go to spas, make new friends and get together with family and friends. Katrina Kaif’s father was an Indian Kashmiri named Mohammed Kaif and her proud mother is an English lady named, Sussana Turquotte. Both of them are British citizens.
When she was very young, her parents opted for divorce. Katrina also quoted some time back that unfortunately her dad had no moral, social or religious influence on the upbringing of her brothers and sisters. The leading actress has seven siblings including six sisters and one brother. Their names are Ayesha Kaif, Eshal Kaif, Habiba Kaif, Maria Kaif, Anila Kaif, Elliza Kaif and Alina Kaif. After being born in Hong Kong, her family moved first to China and then later to Japan. When she was eight, she and her family settled in France and then for some time lived in Switzerland, Germany, Poland and Belgium and some other European countries. Later on the family moved to Hawaii and finally settled in the home country of her mother i.e. England.
Most of the people think that Katrina Kaif belongs to London all the way. But in reality she just lived there for three years before shifting her base to Mumbai. Katrina’s mother is now settled in the state capital of Tamil Nadu, Chennai in India. She started her modeling career at the tender age of fourteen. Her first assignment was a jeweler campaign. The minute she landed on Indian soil she was bombarded by modeling assignments from the most successful advertising agencies. She professionally started modeling with the ace photographer Atul Kasbekar. Her innocent flawless expressive face, drop dead gorgeous looks and her hour glass figure was what made her the most sought after model in a brief amount of time. After which she continued her modeling career in London. She then hired Matrix as a manager for accepting work on her behalf and on the price that she truly deserved.
Due to her modeling assignments, she bagged a debut in Bollywood for the movie Boom produced by Kaizad Gustad, the famous film maker. For her it wasn’t a culture surprise to shift base to a different country with entirely different culture and she adjusted here really well. The actress states that irrespective from the place that one comes from, the fact is that at the end of the day, every person wants love, respect and care. Her first movie bombed at the box –office. Many soothsayers and people in the Bollywood film industry at that time disposed her talents and tagged her as a complete failure and an outsider. The basic reason behind the fact was that the actress had huge problems in understanding and speaking Hindi.
But Katrina Kaif didn’t give up. After accepting her flaws ,the actress worked extremely hard day in and out and learnt to read, speak and write Hindi. She put on a bold exterior and hoped to excel like the Indian diva Sridevi who also didn’t know Hindi as she was from the South film industry and still got amazing offers from top Bollywood film producers. She took dancing and Hindi lessons to make her place in the Hindi film industry. She used to practice Kathak for seven hours in a day without a break. Katrina Kaif is an optimist till the end. In spite of her never ending positive attitude, many stereotyped her as an Indian who would never fit in the Caucasian blonde culture of Britain and ironically like Sonia Gandhi she had been tagged as an outsider in India. But the never dying spirit in the actress finally paid off. Like several other artists from foreign land, she keeps on getting her employability visa extended in India.
Despite her soft angel like looks, the actress does not get intimated. The actress admits that in a personal life she is extremely concerned about the privacy of her family and is also sensitive and emotional. She is an incurable romantic and while at home prefers wearing non-revealing comfortable clothes, hates to apply make-up or do her hair. Although in the beginning she felt lonely but now has made friends with whom she chooses to hang out with when free.

After her first flop movie Boom, Katrina Kaif worked in some Telegu movies Pidugu and Malliswari which helped her get the required attention. Her Telegu movie made a whopping profit of 70 lakh making her a top and highly paid actress. Then she signed a Tamil movie Bheema opposite hero Vikram, a national award winner. In the meantime Katrina Kaif also bagged a brief role in the Bollywood movie Sarkar in which she played Abhishek Bacchan’s girlfriend. Her acting was also appreciated in the film Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya where she acted with Salman Khan as a lead actor as well.
In the year 2007, the actress received accolades in her first successful movie Namastey London. She played the character of a British Indian Girl with famous actor Akshay Kumar in lead in the movie Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, a box office disaster in the year 2006. There was no turning back for Katrina Kaif since then. She then gave semi-hit movies like Partner, Apne, Welcome, etc.
These movies became a block buster and were huge hits. In the movie Welcome, she also wears a silver dress worth $4,814 (Rs. 2 lakh) gifted to her by the designer Emilio Pucci. Katrina Kaif started experimenting with roles at this point and played a villainous character in the Abbas Mustan thriller and action genre movie Race which was also a huge hit. In the movie, she plays the role of secretary of the business tycoon played by Saif Ali Khan and was clandestinely in love with his step- brother which was portrayed by talented Akshay Khanna. She then featured in the movie Singh is King opposite Akshay Kumar in Anees Bazmee’s production. Singh is King was also a huge Bollywood block buster. The last release of that year was a movie from Subhash Ghai Yuvvraaj. Although the movie had a strong star cast, it was not a commercial success but the script of the movie was included in the Library of Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for excellence in the original screenplay and artistic merits with a lot of substance.
The New Year 2009 was also grand for Katrina Kaif where she gave the movie New York with the handsome John Abhraim. The movie gathered both commercial and critical success. In the movie, the performance by Katrina Kaif was much appreciated by the famous critic Taran Adarsh who quoted that Katrina Kaif has the potential to give the biggest surprise in terms of performance. Previously only known for glamorous roles, Katrina Kaif has the potential of delivering a substantial role if given by the writer and the director. She is just outstanding. People saw an altogether different side of Katrina in the movie. For this role, the beautiful actor was also nominated in the category of Best Actress in Filmfare awards. In the next movie, Blue, the actor played a biker chic in the multi-starred action packed film Blue. The movie was the nation’s first thriller shot underwater. But the movie failed to work wonders and was given the status of a below average movie by Indian box office. Later in the year the actress gave fabulous performances in movies like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani pairing Ranbir Kapoor and Akshay Kumar in the movie De Dana Dan. These movies were again big commercial successes.
The first film of the year 2010 put Katrina Kaif in an altogether different category of the most successful and potential female leading actor in Bollywood with the movie Raajneeti. The film did very well in the box office and was given the status of a blockbuster. She also starred in the movie opposite Akshay Kumar in Tees Maar Khan directed by Farah Khan. The main highlight of the movie was the song named Sheila Ki Jawani which redefined the status of Katrina Kaif as a beautiful dancer. The song was among the most appreciated songs of the year. The actress also appeared in the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. She is a real crowd puller. There has been no turning back for Katrina Kaif. She is at the top by her endless efforts and hard work. Her fan following is increasing day by day. The actor has also bagged several endorsement deals and is now among the top paid actress in Bollywood. All the top directors and producers approach her with varying roles.
